We often hear that the aura has seven colors—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. But beyond these rainbow hues, there exist rarer energy tones: gold, silver, magenta, turquoise… Like meteors occasionally streaking across the night sky, they are rare yet profoundly meaningful.

If the seven-colored aura reflects our daily emotions, then these special colors are the imprints of soul depth and life missions.

Gold: The Radiance of Visionaries and Pioneers

Keywords: Perfection,Noble goals, working for humanity’s good

Gold is an extremely rare aura color. Outside of saints or great humanitarian leaders, few possess a complete gold aura. Usually, gold appears as subtle flashes or a thin band of stars at the outermost edge of the aura, merging into the cosmic white light.

POSITIVE QUALITIES: Although a newborn baby will be surrounded by gold, it soon fades away. But you can be sure that if a child retains gold in their aura, they are destined to be a very special person. Gold is the color of someone who will become rich or famous, yet use that wealth and fame for the good of others and change the world in positive ways. A single gold star on top of the head indicates special talents that can open the doors of the future.

NEGATIVE QUALITIES: Hard gold indicates an obsession with power and a desire for worldly wealth at any cost. Tarnished gold can suggest a tendency towards addictions, obsessions, and compulsions.

ARCHANGEL: Michael, archangel of the sun, who favors unique personal enterprise and guides all those with a unique destiny

FRAGRANCES: Chamomile, copal, frankincense, marigold, orange, and sunflower

STRENGTHENING GEMS AND CRYSTALS: Gold, box stones, chalcopyrite, clear quartz crystal, diamond, polished iron pyrites, tiger’s eye, golden topaz

CHAKRA: The entire chakra system

Magenta: The Light of Truth Teachers and Suffering Transformers

Keywords: Spirituality expressed in everyday life, a path of service to others, liberation from the pain and suffering of others

Magenta can appear as a band above the violet layer or even between indigo and violet. If a person is highly evolved and dedicated to transmitting wisdom and healing to those in need, magenta may occasionally permeate the entire aura.

POSITIVE QUALITIES: Deep magenta is the color of spiritual leaders, whether a Reiki master or a great guru. It is most often seen in the aura of wise elders—someone who has acquired wisdom through suffering and used that experience for the benefit of others. However, it can also be seen in much younger people and in anyone who has fought serious illness or refuses to let disability or the looming threat of mortality defeat them.

NEGATIVE QUALITIES: Overly hard magenta belongs to the false guru or those who use spiritual power to dominate others. It also characterizes those so inflated by their own spiritual knowledge that they lose sight of truth.

ARCHANGEL: Metatron, who, though described as a pillar of blazing light, is the archangel of transformation, with his quill and scroll. He was transformed through thunder and lightning from the mortal prophet Enoch.

FRAGRANCES: Frankincense, juniper, citronella, myrrh, orchid, and sandalwood

STRENGTHENING GEMS AND CRYSTALS: Blue aventurine, flint, mahogany obsidian, meteorite, sardonyx, tektite, and titanium aura

CHAKRA: Third eye/brow chakra, also connected to the crown

Turquoise: The Light of Heart-Mind Integration

Keywords: Integration of heart and mind, feelings and thoughts, synthesis of wisdom and experience; the color of the wise healer

Turquoise originates from the fourth (green) and fifth (blue) layers of the aura, moving outward from the head as these two color bands merge. It can permeate the aura of a mystic, humanitarian worker, artist, writer, or inventor, and indicates an old soul.

POSITIVE QUALITIES: Clear, bright turquoise represents impartiality and justice, blended with compassion. Light turquoise indicates unwavering devotion to friends and family, and anyone in need, through good times and bad. It signifies potential counselors, negotiators, speakers, and arbitrators. In public or personal life, turquoise people inspire devotion and respect. However, they are not personally ambitious or success-oriented—they simply believe in what they do.

NEGATIVE QUALITIES: An overly hard turquoise aura indicates a charismatic person who uses their gifts to gain favor with the influential for personal status and glory.

ARCHANGEL: Sandalphon, the twin of Metatron, once the prophet Elijah, who ascended to heaven in a chariot of fire and, like Metatron, is an angel of transformation and traditional wisdom.

FRAGRANCES: Irises, lotus, mint, musk, all fragrant roses, sandalwood, and thyme

STRENGTHENING GEMS AND CRYSTALS: Aquamarine, bornite or peacock ore, cobalt and titanium (metals bonded with quartz), as well as chrysocolla, lapis lazuli, opal, and turquoise

CHAKRA: Heart/throat, and the minor chakra—the thymus chakra below the base of the neck

Silver: The Light of Dreamers and Magicians

Keywords: Dreams, magic, visions, desire for fulfillment beyond the material world; ability to travel between dimensions and connect with other worlds

Associated with the second orange layer of the aura, silver is also scattered throughout the entire aura as stars or streaks in the higher aura layers.

POSITIVE QUALITIES: Pure silver is often seen around a parent who has given much to the family, perhaps due to a child’s disability. Silver stars or sparks in an aura indicate hidden spiritual potential; they may also appear at the moment a woman is about to conceive a child, remaining throughout pregnancy and childbirth. However, silver can equally refer to seeds of imagination and creativity that can be developed, and the awakening of sexuality. Silver stars are also the mark of a gifted teacher.

NEGATIVE QUALITIES: Metallic flashes throughout the aura are a sign of someone seeking to create an illusion or image, or craving excitement and stimulation through dubious means and willing to take risks.

ARCHANGEL: Gabriel, archangel of the moon

FRAGRANCES: Cherry, jasmine, lemon verbena, poppy, rose, and ylang ylang (Ylang Ylang  is a tropical flower essence often used in perfumes and aromatherapy for its sweet, exotic scent and calming effects.)

STRENGTHENING GEMS AND CRYSTALS: Hematite, mica, moonstone, mother of pearl, pearl, rainbow moonstone, selenite, silver, and white opal

CHAKRA: Heart and sacral

Pink: The Light of Unconditional Love and Healing

Keywords: Unconditional love, reconciliation, practical nurturing, gentleness; the color of the wise counselor and unconditional love

Pink is part of the green aura band, but can permeate the aura of girls reaching puberty and anyone experiencing first love or a resurgence of trust. It is seen around pregnant women and new mothers, as well as pregnant animals and animal mothers.

POSITIVE QUALITIES: Bright pink is the color of the peacemaker—between friends, family, and colleagues; the mender of bruised or broken hearts; the healer of emotional pain and abuse. Gentle, kind, patient, and tolerant of others’ faults, the pink-light person always sees the best in everyone; they are loyal friends who beautify any home and are excellent with children and young animals. Light pink also suggests fertility.

NEGATIVE QUALITIES: Very pale pink, seen in men and women, is the lost child syndrome—constantly seeking to be rescued. A dull or murky pink aura can indicate a “poor me” martyr attitude. A very misty pink reveals that the owner sees others’ viewpoints so much that they will take the path of least resistance and not stand up for justice.

ARCHANGEL: Ariel, Lioness of God

FRAGRANCES: Apple blossom, cherry blossom, geranium, lilac, melissa (lemon balm), pink roses, and vanilla

STRENGTHENING GEMS AND CRYSTALS: Coral, kunzite, mangano or pink calcite, morganite, pink chalcedony, opal, rose quartz, and tourmaline

CHAKRA: Heart

Brown: The Light of Earth’s Children

Keywords: Practical abilities, stability and reliability, love of animals, acceptance of one’s own and others’ fragility, earth-related powers

Brown relates to the lowest, slowest vibrations of the innermost red band.

POSITIVE QUALITIES: Rich golden-brown shows a person deeply rooted in Mother Earth—an enthusiastic environmentalist and land lover; a doer rather than a thinker; a natural homemaker and home lover; someone gifted in arts and crafts, home renovation, and gardening. Dark brown shows wise caution with finances and property, and sympathy towards elderly people.

NEGATIVE QUALITIES: Murky brown can indicate narrow horizons, excessive caution, and a prejudiced outlook—someone who may be stingy with money and finds it difficult to show affection. Hard brown is the aura of someone obsessed with money or material concerns and a workaholic. Very pale brown appears when someone is overloaded with practical or financial worries.

ARCHANGEL: Cassiel, archangel of Saturn in its practical, cautious, limiting aspects

FRAGRANCES: Hibiscus, mimosa, patchouli, sweet grass, tea tree, and thyme

STRENGTHENING GEMS AND CRYSTALS: Bronzite, desert rose, leopard skin or serpent jasper, rutilated quartz, all sand-colored and brown-speckled jaspers, and tiger’s eye

CHAKRA: Root or base, also with the minor earth star chakra located around the ankles, sides, and soles of the feet

Gray: The Light of Secret Keepers

Keywords: Compromise, adaptability, ability to blend into the background; the color of secret keepers and mystery

Gray is a lower part of the innermost red aura, but sometimes can also emanate from the third yellow band as a mist covering the entire aura, when a person is trying to avoid revealing their thoughts and intentions.

POSITIVE QUALITIES: Dove-like silver-gray is an aura expressing neutrality and the desire to avoid emotional or controversial matters, or to compromise. Light gray is good for making things happen behind the scenes. Gray-aura people are difficult to get to know, as they tend to be all things to all people. They rarely make a fuss and are natural detectives and spies.

NEGATIVE QUALITIES: Dull gray can suggest depression, and around the knee area, may show a person clinging to pain. Very pale gray can be a symbol of indecision and indicate a fence-sitter. Dense, misty gray is generally a “keep away” aura, usually because there is something to hide (beware of this in a new lover) and a lack of principles. Peat-gray aura indicates hidden information or half-truths that may suggest caution in trusting this person without guarantees.

ARCHANGEL: Raziel, angel of divine mysteries and secrets, credited with writing the esoteric Book of the Angel Raziel, containing all earthly and celestial knowledge; often described as an outline behind a semi-transparent dark gray curtain

FRAGRANCES: Ambergris, cedar, lavender, lemon verbena, sweet marjoram, myrrh, musk, and patchouli

STRENGTHENING GEMS AND CRYSTALS: Apache tears, fossils, banded gray agate, iron pyrites, labradorite, smoky quartz, tektite, and turitella agate

CHAKRA: Root or solar plexus

Black: The Light of Transition and Rebirth

Keywords: Transitions, rest leading to regeneration, sorrows and obstacles to be overcome

Although black is the lowest part of the innermost aura layer, it can appear anywhere in the aura, especially as knots or tangles, and indicates a need for attention in that particular area, especially emotionally.

POSITIVE QUALITIES: Clear, almost transparent black aura may indicate that a person is resting emotionally and spiritually, perhaps after an exhausting or stressful period or after grief, needing time to strengthen behind protective darkness. Because psychic protection is so strongly implied in a positive black aura, someone with a black aura may be deliberately or spontaneously protecting themselves from intrusion, so it is not an aura to try to read.

NEGATIVE QUALITIES: Matt black indicates exhaustion or depression and is most often seen as black spots or streaks rather than an overall aura. However, rough metallic black may suggest the person is potentially a psychic or emotional vampire or has serious addictions or criminal tendencies. This is an aura to avoid unless you are a very experienced healer.

ARCHANGEL: Cassiel, angel of serenity. Cassiel teaches us calm and stillness, allowing careful thought and consideration before acting

FRAGRANCES: Myrrh, musk, and wormwood

STRENGTHENING GEMS AND CRYSTALS: Obsidian, smoky quartz, and Apache tears, all translucent

CHAKRA: Root or base, and the minor earth star

Higher Dimensional Colors

Like the white aura color, gold, magenta, turquoise, and silver are also higher aura colors, linking the seven-color aura bands with higher dimensions and the cosmos. In an exceptionally wise or holy person, these higher shades may permeate the entire aura.

Other subsidiary colors form variations of the seven main colors, but may flood their related aura band if particularly strong. For example, in the case of a new mother (human or animal), pink can fill the entire aura in the days and weeks following birth.

These rare aura colors are like medals of the soul, telling the story of the paths one has walked, the pain one has endured, and the heights one has reached. They remind us: everyone is not only a rainbow, but also a unique beam of light.

When you are fortunate enough to encounter someone with these colors, know this—you have met a soul fulfilling its mission.
